UNDRIP
The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, adopted in 2007 as a global standard.
Presented by ClearTrust Free for classrooms, newsrooms and the curious.
UNDRIP sets out the minimum rights of indigenous peoples, including self-determination, land, language, culture and consent to projects that affect them. The UN General Assembly adopted it on 13 September 2007. A declaration is not a binding treaty, but it carries strong moral and political weight and some countries have written it into their law.
