Endogamy
A custom or rule of marrying within one's own group, such as the same tribe, caste or religion.

Endogamy means 'marrying in'. It keeps a group distinct and keeps land or property inside it. A society can practise both rules at once: marry inside the tribe, but outside your own clan.
