The study of how a people know, name and use plants for food, medicine, building, craft and ceremony.

Ethnobotanists learn from communities about the plants they use and how. Much modern medicine began with such knowledge. This raises questions of fairness, because communities have often not been credited or paid when their knowledge was used.
