Dialect
A regional or social form of a language, with its own words, sounds and grammar, that other speakers can mostly understand.

Every language has dialects, and no dialect is more 'correct' than another. The line between a dialect and a separate language is often political, not scientific. Calling a people's speech 'only a dialect' has often been a way of belittling it.
